outro is a multidisciplinary artistic research and creation platform led by Sílvio Vieira. Based in Lisbon, it began in 2017 as a reading and discussion group. In 2018, it became a cultural association founded by four people: João Leão, Patrícia Moreira, Sílvio Vieira, and Sofia Fialho. During its early research phase, it produced original texts and materials that later formed the foundation for its first projects: this website and the play as árvores deixam morrer os ramos mais bonitos.

outro.pt was launched in November 2017 to give shape to ideas and share them through a platform close to the public, featuring texts, illustrations, an etymological dictionary, and a collection of works by other authors. as árvores deixam morrer os ramos mais bonitos, a theatre play blending cinema and sculpture, premiered in 2019 at Arquipélago — Centro de Artes Contemporâneas (São Miguel) and was later presented in Lisbon at Teatro Thalia in November 2020 as part of the Temps d’Images Lisboa Festival. The text, written by Sílvio Vieira, was selected by EURODRAM’s Portuguese committee in 2020.

In 2021, outro kicked off a trilogy of plays that connect deeply with the physical space in which they were presented. ARENA, a wordless theater piece, was staged in an old car workshop in Lisbon (November 2021); EQUADOR (July 2023, Centro Cultural de Belém); and ZÉNITE (2024, outdoors, in co-production with Teatro Nacional D. Maria II).

2025 marks the start of a new creative phase: the Trilogia Azul (Blue Trilogy), with the performances ATLAS (2025), BÁTEGA (2026), and SUPERNOVA (2027), inspired by the horizon, the sea, and the sky, respectively. Between 2025 and 2026, outro will also be collaborating with DESEJAR/Braga25 to create GOLPE DE ASA, a performance built with the queer community in Braga; and with Rota do Sentir for TOPOGRAFIA DO SONHO, involving teenagers from the Miranda do Douro and Montalegre regions.
